KCC: the 2023 pre-exam course

On 24, 25 and 26 February 2023, the KCC organized an internship, like every school holiday period. This had a special flavor, it was the last stage before the annual change of rank.

Let’s go back to the event.

The principle of internship at KCC

At KCC we have a little ritual. Whenever possible, the club organizes a karate course during the school holidays. The principle of this event, both awaited and feared by students, is quite simple. The courses at KCC are: 3 days of consecutive karate lessons that allow karatekas to master and deepen their techniques and kata.

The last training course is that of the winter holidays where both the students of the KCC and those of the karate section of the TCMS (Toulouse Cheminots Marengo Sports) gathered, whose courses are held by Thomas NICOLAS.

Khion, Kata: targeted work on the degree

The grade change deadline for the 2022/2023 football season is quickly approaching. At KCC the annual exam takes place the week of April 11th. The winter or pre-exam course since it was the last course before the exam allowed the karatekas present to perfect their art.

The main objective of this internship was to work on the elements that will be required on the day of the grade transfer exam. Thomas NICOLAS, 3rd DAN teacher at KCC and TCMS, provided specific teachings during this internship. Through different Khion and Kata exercises, the students were able to progress more quickly due to their efforts.

Leave to finish training

Since the objective was not even to exhaust all the energy of our karatekas, the end of the sessions was marked by a more playful, game-oriented part.

For those familiar with the Netflix series “100% Physical,” one of the exercises consisted, as in the program, of holding a ball for an allotted time. We adapted this game with a 3-pound crosstraining ball. The winner was the one who had the ball in his possession after one minute of play.

Karateka were also able to compete in flexible fighting. At contact distance but without throwing blows, they were able to put into practice the techniques learned and/or developed with an opponent.
