Motivation for sports – How to start doing sports?

Everyone understands the importance of sport, but not everyone is able to change their usual lifestyle.

But how often do you personally think about the importance of sport in life and its necessity not only for physical development, but also for psychological and spiritual development?

Are you ready to fall in love with sport, especially if you have never played sport before?

People may not gain weight without playing sports or physical activity. This period of stagnation usually lasts into adulthood. But as you get older, it becomes more difficult to restore your physical condition and body shape. This is due to lack of free time, low recovery rate of the body, some harmful habits and many social factors.

Unfortunately, few people start playing amateur or professional sports after thirty years. For many people, trying to make this decision represents a serious and insurmountable obstacle.

Since I understand the importance of sports, I want to find some ideas to help you successfully overcome the intention stage, start practicing and not give up sports in the future. The following tips will help you motivate yourself for sports and quickly and efficiently enter the world of sports and fitness.

Set achievable goals

The human body is a functional tool that we use for different purposes. If you want to improve your overall health and lose weight, take your physical condition into consideration.

You won’t be able to run 100 meters as fast as you can in school. It’s a mistake to think you can run a marathon this year. Start small: Set realistic goals.

If you like running, it’s best to start with 15-20 minutes a day, several times a week. So, increase the duration of your runs.

It is not always wise to look for ways to exercise every day and in some cases this desire only has negative effects. In the beginning it is not advisable to run or exercise more than two or three times a week. Your muscles need time. They get used to the effort, during which they adapt and grow.

Beware of the «model coach»

I understand that you may admire the figure of your friend or acquaintance who goes to the gym every day. You are on really good terms and she invites you to train together, you don’t accept.

At this stage, your sporting needs are very different. His fitness level is much higher than yours. Working out together can make both of you feel uncomfortable.

If you need emotional support, choose group training. Usually, in such groups, the level of training is average. This way you will be able to adapt comfortably in a short time and will be able to maintain your motivation for the sport.

Choose the type of sport based on your needs

A sport that is good for one person may not be quite right for another. Therefore, you should choose a sport based on your abilities and needs, and not based on fashion trends.

The more you exercise, the more fat you lose. Do aerobics to get in shape and lose a few pounds. Sports with moderate but long duration activity will help you burn fat faster.

If the weather outside permits, do outdoor sports to saturate your body with oxygen. This is a great way to learn how to breathe properly and keep your cardiovascular system healthy.

Listen to your body, this is the key to getting results over time. If you have objective reasons to change sports, don’t hesitate to do so.

Alternate workouts at home with visits to the gym

Let’s face it, fitness and home workouts are becoming more and more popular these days. It would seem that this option has some advantages, because it is free and you do not have to spend a lot of time. However, there are also disadvantages.

If you have a gym membership, take advantage of it!

Of course, you will have to spend time preparing and traveling. There will also be financial costs. However, if you want to lose weight and shape a good figure, it is still better to go to the gym.

New friends, an environment that inspires you and continuously provides you with motivation in sports, a wide choice of fitness equipment and the availability of coaches for advice – all this will help you achieve your goal.
