Starting and quitting: the most common mistakes in sport [TOP 5]

On the one hand, the popularity of sport is growing day by day, as is the active lifestyle in general. On the other hand, beginners have many reasons to be disappointed with the sport and abandon it.

Some people cannot lose weight at all, despite exercising regularly for several months. Others are often traumatized. Others are long past the gym adjustment period, but still experience muscle pain in their neck and back.

Today we will analyze the main mistakes in sport made by amateur athletes. Learn how to avoid them, plan a suitable training program and sport will become your friend.

Aside from the heating

The most common mistake of beginner athletes is skipping warm-up exercises before the main sports session.

Heating is an extremely important process. Why is it very important to warm up your muscles before starting your training session? The reason is simple: heated muscles are much more elastic and relaxed. These factors allow your muscles to work more efficiently.

Thanks to correct muscle warming, the blood vessels in our body dilate and are responsible for the state of the cardiovascular system during physical efforts. Additionally, the warm-up process itself will prepare you both physically and mentally for the workout.

The most universal method of warming up muscles is walking, from a brisk walk to an easy jog; you can also perform jumps, lunges and trunk rotations. The duration of the warm-up depends on the intensity and time interval of the physical effort you intend to carry out: approximately 5 to 15 minutes will be sufficient.

Excessive physical exertion

The effort must be increased gradually, this moment is very important. Otherwise, you may simply train too much and completely lose interest in the sport within the first week. It is preferable to enter the training regime under the supervision of a specialist who will develop a competent program and this will help you avoid unwanted accidents and other mistakes in sports.

Intense physical exertion can disrupt the body’s normal functioning. Furthermore, those who do not carry out regular physical activity, but have decided to obtain important results in a short period of time, often end up traumatising themselves.

Gradual increase in effort means: effective training, active growth of muscle mass, avoiding future injuries. Learn the correct exercise technique in advance.

Insufficient hydration and incorrect breathing

Insufficient hydration during training is one of the most important mistakes in sport. When blood thickens, not only strength indicators decrease, but this can cause unpleasant health consequences.

All claims that you don’t need to drink water while exercising are myths and misconceptions. It is very important to recover lost fluids, even if training is intense. Consume the water gradually, in small sips, preferably at room temperature.

Remember: Each exercise has not only its own execution technique, but also a breathing technique.

Proper breathing will have a positive effect on your mood, ensuring the flow of oxygen, as this will improve the outcome of the training session. Thanks to a sufficient amount of oxygen, fats are burned more efficiently, muscles recover better and fatigue passes faster.

Deep breathing during physical activity saturates the body with the necessary amount of oxygen, ensures ventilation of the lungs and provides «fuel» to the muscles. It is important not to inhale excessively, as this can cause dizziness.

You don’t train consistently

If you ask instructors what is most important when following physical training, the answer will be: consistency. Even if you see that due to your busy schedule you will be half an hour late for training, this is not a serious reason to skip training completely. It is better to practice for only twenty minutes than not to practice at all. The worst decision you can make is to quit, because then you will find hundreds of reasons to stop going to the gym.

It is very likely that the break will extend for a much longer period than expected, and then you will have to start all over again.

Secondly, trying to make up for missed sessions with an excessive volume of exercise will only cause stress on the entire body. Your workouts should be progressive. Always.

You chose the wrong sport

Before starting training, you need to individually analyze and understand what kind of sport you will like. Many women choose a certain type of sport just because a friend or a star practices it, or because it is fashionable today.

Remember some time ago how everyone practiced yoga and then Pilates? But for some people these types of sports are simply boring, due to their temperament, and on the contrary, they require a sport that helps them discharge their energy. For these people, running, swimming, aerobics, dancing or team sports are recommended.

If you persevere in finding the right exercises for you, you will surely find the sport in which you will feel comfortable and from which you will derive pleasure. And if you are not consistent, you will come to believe that sport is not for you.

So, you understood, how to avoid mistakes in sports on the way to the desired goal. Continue reading my blog to learn more about how you can improve your body shape and not waste time.
