What to eat in the office? Good habits, recipes and food


Busy work schedules, demanding tasks and responsibilities at work can often force you to skip lunch or eat foods that are less healthy for your body. However, over time, this eating behavior can harm your health.

When we talk about healthy eating it is necessary to talk about a balanced lifestyle, which includes eating during working hours.

When you’re at the office, you’re tempted to eat whatever you can get your hands on. How harmful is this habit and how can you get rid of it? It’s actually very simple: if you have nothing to eat, you won’t eat anything. For example, I don’t buy food for the home or office where I work that I shouldn’t eat. Why fight temptation when you can avoid it?

As practice shows, someone who works in the office begins to eat something not because he is hungry, but because a colleague began to eat, or someone served him candy, or because he has a cake in his bag that he bought on the way to work.

The best place to eat is the kitchen or living room, but what if your office doesn’t have a kitchen or you have to eat 5 times a day for health reasons? Here are some options for maintaining a healthy lifestyle and good nutrition, even in the office.

Order lunch at the office

This is one of the best ways to eat well and healthy when you don’t have the opportunity to cook at home often and take food with you. This way you can eat different foods every day and get all the nutrients, vitamins and minerals you need. The main thing is not to order a hamburger in a restaurant 🙂

Healthy snacks

There are foods you can bring to the office without feeling guilty. For example, light and nutritious snacks such as fresh fruit, dried fruit, cooked vegetables, low-calorie homemade biscuits, peanuts and other dried fruit.

If you ate an apple for a snack and your colleague serves you chips or chips, for example, I strongly recommend that you refuse these snacks. The more you educate yourself and realize the damage to your health caused by constantly consuming such foods, the less you will crave them. The main thing is not to let yourself go hungry and eat regularly.

And the dessert?

Sugar is brain food. During long sessions or intellectually demanding work, one often feels the need to eat at least one piece of chocolate. This is something normal. But you need to understand that there are homemade desserts and industrially prepared desserts. They differ greatly in the amount of refined sugar, as you can control the level of sweetness at home.

It is better to eat a piece of dark chocolate, a slice of homemade cake or biscuits or sweet fruit – this will allow you to enjoy food and not stress, harming your figure.

What can you cook in the office?

If the office where you work has a kitchen, you can prepare simple, healthy meals for breakfast or lunch.

  • Flakes and fruit yogurt. Arrange a layer of cereals, honey, yogurt and fruit of your choice in the glass. You will receive a quick and filling snack, also perfect for breakfast.
  • Quinoa salad. You can boil and prepare all the ingredients at home, while in the office you simply mix them. Add gravy and salt for a delicious lunch.
  • Bruschetta. We need good bread here. You can cook bruschetta with any ingredients you have on hand. For example: cream cheese, corn, sun-dried tomatoes; ham, pineapple and salad; salami and a little mustard. The possible combinations of what we eat in the office are endless. Enjoy your meal!
