Superfoods are truly a brilliant idea, fully deserving of the prefix «super». They are becoming more and more popular and many already fully enjoy all the benefits they offer.
If you still don’t know what superfoods are and why they are so important, this guide will help you understand everything about them.
What are superfoods?
There are some foods that can help you lose weight, slow aging, cleanse your body, or protect you from disease, but they only have one of these effects separately. But there are foods that achieve all these effects at the same time: these are superfoods.
In most cases, superfoods are foods of plant origin and plant proteins that are considered nutritious and therefore beneficial to health.
All organic superfoods contain a wide range of vitamins, enzymes, minerals and amino acids or antioxidants and provide maximum nutritional value with a minimum of calories.
Benefits of superfoods
First of all, I would like to point out that when I say superfood I am not referring to multivitamin supplements or extracts of exotic plants. These unusual foods include fruits and vegetables and other popular dietary ingredients.
The main benefits of superfoods:
- Maintain a healthy body weight
- Acceleration of fat burning
- Stimulation of metabolism
- Improve physical and mental health
- Strengthen the immune system
- Increase resistance to various diseases
On top of all this, superfoods provide a high level of energy and help you lead a more active lifestyle. The high level of antioxidants protects the heart, improves blood circulation, helps rejuvenate the skin and reduces the risk of cancer.
There is a wide variety of superfoods with different properties. To understand them more easily, I have structured them into four basic categories.
Types of organic superfoods
Fruits, nuts and berries
There is a wide variety of fruits, as well as their friends – nuts and berries, which help you live a happy and healthy life. The most important are almonds, cranberries, mulberries, sea buckthorn, acai berries, coconuts, goji berries, pomegranates, blueberries, poppy seeds, cocoa beans and aronia berries.
Overfeeding version
This category usually includes green vegetables, rich in proteins, vitamins, minerals and other nutrients. Here we can include green leafy vegetables, barley and wheat grass, some herbaceous plants such as leeks and legumes.
Aromatic herbs and spices
There are many herbs with medicinal properties. We will select those that contain many trace elements and nutrients. Among them are ginseng, ginger, basil, aloe vera, nettle, calendula, turmeric (turmeric), echinacea, anise and others.
Other types of superfood
In this category we can include honey, royal jelly and pollen. Healthy vegetable oils can also be included in the list of organic superfoods. Another food with a rich chemical composition, which not many land plants can boast of, is algae, they also belong to the category of superfoods.
