How do you balance the roles of wife, mother and fitness instructor? Ina Kislaru


This role conflict is often the most difficult to resolve. You can’t be effective in all roles in your life at the same time. Either you give too much importance to your career and then you forget about your family, or you sacrifice everything for your children and you are that mother who forgets that she is also a woman, or… you can continue the list.

The secret to a harmonious life is to be in harmony with yourself in each of your roles. For this reason, it is not enough to just want, but it is important to invest time and effort to realize yourself in all these roles.

I recommend 3 simple steps that help me self-regulate, I ask myself 3 questions weekly, in fact:

  • What will I do this week for my children? The important thing is that it is something different from the things we do every day (walk, prepare dinner, etc.).
    For example, do we ask the child what he would like us to do together? We go to the cinema, or the theater, or the playground. Or we stay at home and play the game that he chooses, let’s prepare something tasty together, stay in bed and hold each other as long as the child wants, let’s turn into children with them. When there are more of us, like three of me, we choose a day for each of us, and they have to choose what they want to do with their mother that day.
  • What do I do for my husband? I prepare his favorite dinner, I iron his shirts for the whole week, I prepare his sports bag in advance. I invite him out to dinner, write him a sweeter message, etc. There are many little things we can do that will surprise him. Because through these things, which at first glance seem trivial, we keep that fire in the relationship 🙂
  • What do I do for myself personally? What will give me deep pleasure, for example, going to the gym, having coffee with a friend I haven’t seen for a long time, reading a book, taking classes that are waiting for their turn, doing facial or body procedures or taking a nap… We women find something to relax with, it is important to find time for this. Sometimes we have to be selfish, because we always do much more for others than for ourselves.

After answering all the questions, I open the Google calendar and set aside the necessary time for each activity, to make sure nothing escapes my sight.

Simple, fast and effective. Time properly invested in all the roles we fill brings enormous pleasure. If mom feels happy and fulfilled, those around her will be happy too! Try it – you’ll love it!
