In the photograph above you can see three of the fifteen children from La Vecina:
Mishel is a little three year old girl. Mishel was submitted to La Vecina by the
Colombian children’s protection office (Bienestar). Mishel used to live on the streets
with her younger sister and mother and is now offered a new chance.
Then there is Heiser, he is three years old and a very lovely boy. He taking very good care of his
paperback, and every day when he comes home his paperback has to be carefully put on the top drawer.
His father is killed during the war.
Aloira is six years old and with a large lag in development.
Miss Ines gives her extra assignments to work away the lag. Aloira is always accompanied by her
little sister Deisi, who follows her everywhere.
